In the Fall of 2006 the city of Statesville was devastated by the disappearance of seven 16 year old girls. As the days and weeks drifted by one by one the kidnapped girls were found murdered in a ritualistic fashion with a bloody letter scrawled across their stomachs. The Statesville police were overwhelmed by the events and eventually the FBI was brought into investigate, but their involvement provided no better results.

A break in the case finally came when the seventh victim, Allison Sawyer, was miraculously found alive. Little is know about her cooperation with the police after her recovery, but soon after she was discovered the kidnappings ended and Police Chief Hays concluded the case closed. Yet no arrests were made and no one was charged with the serial killings.

The story became a national curiosity thanks to the investigative reporting by KNA TV-13 reporter Thomas Lloyd who followed the investigation intensely. It was during his report when the only known footage of Allison following her discovery was captured; as she was being escorted from the police station she was heard yelling hysterically "wire face...". While she was immediately placed in protective custody and did not give any clarification, her words "wire face" became a fixture on cable news outlets throughout the country. A name was finally given to the faceless perpetrator of the horrible crimes committed in Statesville. Wireface was born.

Now, six years later and 100 miles away, police detective Ashley Gates has been assigned to what seems like a gruesome home invasion. However the case takes an abrupt turn for the surreal when the words "Wireface is coming..." are found scrawled on the wall above the victim, who happens to be the Wireface's seventh victim, Allison Sawyer.

As Detective Gates dives deeper into the case she is inevitably drawn to Statesville where she finds herself investigating not only the murder of Allison Sawyer, but the years old Wireface murders as well. With each discovery and clue she soon discovers that all is not what it seems in the tiny town and that she herself is linked to the events in ways she never imagined.
